BYU Campus Education Week

Ok, so I didn't actually go for the whole week, but same difference. We went all day today, and are planning to go to a class or two tomorrow. Today was pretty fun (ok, it was awesome!). We bought alot of stuff at the BYU bookstore and even got to meet a famous artist who autographed a bunch of reproductions of paintings he did. He was extremely nice too, it was awesome. Man, I seem to be using the word awesome alot. I guess its pretty awesome of me to use the word awesome. Ya know? So yeah, back to Education Week, it was good. The sad thing is that I enjoyed the adult classes I went to alot more than the youth ones (I have to admit that John Bytheway is awesome though). The whole "not fitting in" thing just kind of adds to my introverted anti-socialness. Oh well, its fun to be friends with older people! I'm pretty sure I'm really tired right now, because I keep going off on random tangents. So I guess I'll head off to bed now.

Rainy In Utah

Ok, so I think the rain actually stopped a couple of hours ago, but thats not the point! We made it to Park City, and are staying at my friend's family's condo. Its so awesome! And its so beautiful out here. I wish California looked this good (or at least SoCal). Well, I'm up because I have nothing better to do. Its 11:20 PM here, and I have a horrible kink in my shoulder, which I hope isn't anything worse than that. I'm also listening to The Light In The Piazza, which is an awesome musical. It still doesnt quite beat Les Miserables or Wicked though. I just realized that I'm going to be seeing Miss Saigon in only 4 weeks! I'm so excited. Too bad school starts next week, gah! I hope this school year goes well. For some reason I got put in a PE class instead of World History, which is a required academic class. Soooo, we need to get that fixed. I'm stressing about school already, and it hasn't even started. Its odd though, the Die Lieders (which I got into!) are singing the national anthem in front of the entire school at the first day of school assembly, and I'm not nervous about that at all. Even though I don't really know my part that well. I guess it will all work out somehow.

No power? No problem!

Here I am at the Oasis Hotel And Casino in Mesquite, Nevada. Today has been a long boring day. I've been in the car the whole time, which can get really old really fast. I found that watching movies on my laptop helps to pass the time, but it was still boring. There have been a ton of thunder storms today, and the power was out when we got here. Our grandparents (who are going up to Utah also, and are staying here also) called us in advance to warn us about what to expect. Boy was it odd! All of the emergency lights in the hallways were on so long that the batteries had drained. We were able to check in and get a room (with outside access, it is in an older part of the hotel) and, well, thats where we are now. There is still thunder and lighting outside (not as much as before though). It is supposed to continue on all this week, the storm traveling with us then settling in northern Utah, where we will be staying. Coincidence? Probably. Does it stink? Yes. I cant find a WiFi hotspot out here, so I cant post this until I'm on the web again. So yeah, I'm probably going to stay up for a little while longer then go to bed so I can wake up early in the morning.

Crud, its August

Which means school starts this month....Oh joy! Yeah well, not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. I became a Battlestar Galactica and Firefly fan, I went to Newport Beach to see the temple that was just built up there, and I probably did something else, but I cant remember right now. I just realized that we're leaving for Utah in two weeks, which should be fun (Park City baby, woot woot). Yeah that's about it.

Dont remember much about yesterday

Mainy because I didnt do anything. In the morning I went to Hollywood Video, then later Target, but that was pretty much it. The rest of the day I just spent at home. Gotta love summer.....Today will probably be the same, but I'll try and find something to do.

Just your typical Sunday

Except for the fact that I gave a talk in church (yeah, us crazy mormons). I'm not all that great at public speaking, but everyone said I did fine. I'm sure thats just because they're trying to be nice and all. I think I talked too fast, but ah well, no way to know for sure. Man, what is it with me and speaking to an audience? I mean, I can sing a song in front of people just fine, and I can show emotion and stuff when I sing, but for some reason I just cant speak well in front of people! Anyone got tips?

I'm workin off of 3 hours of sleep here

Last night I got woken up at 4 (went to bed at 1) by a huge blast, which scared the crap out of me. Turns out it was thunder from a thunder storm that was right over us. I guess I slept through the first part of it, but man it was loud! And the weird thing was, there wasnt any rain. Last time there was lighting around here, I set up my camera to take a ton of consecutive shots, which got me a few really cool pictures of lightning. Since I was up anyway, I figured I'd try that. So after I set it up and all, I went back to bed (didnt actually sleep though). I didnt get any shots of lighting this time because it was foggy outside and the lighting wasnt in view of the window I set it up in, but I did get one pretty cool shot. Oh yeah, this was taken when it was pitch black outside, minor detail. Who knew the sky was still blue at night?

Its a bittersweet symphony

So I couldn't sleep last night. I woke up around 4, got out of bed around 6, went to the first day of summer school at 7, found out I was 77th on the waiting list to get into it, waited 2 hours to find out that I didn't make it in (the last person in was #74) so I went home kinda happy that I don't have summer school even though I'm kind of screwed because I needed to take health because I'm going to be in Die Lieders (Chamber choir, top choir at school, for all you non-locals). Stargate Atlantis was on tonight...good show, good show. So yeah, that's about it. I'm thinkin about changing the background on my myspace, but I cant find one that I like (and that doesn't scare people away). Any suggestions?
